MHFA is accredited through Mental Health Australia, part of the International Mental Health Program, which uses evidence-based and scientifically proven research methods to help evaluate and distribute knowledge and the best practice for Mental Health First Aid. All Mental Health First Aid course facilitators need to undertake rigorous training with Mental Health Australia and need to be certified to teach the course.
The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course covers how to recognise the signs and symptoms of some common mental illnesses, including anxiety and depression, psychosis and substance abuse. The course provides you with all the skills and knowledge you need to approach a person to talk about mental health issues, encourage people to seek help, and go for professional help. You’ll also be given a detailed Mental Health manual covering all the course content and listing all the different resources and professional help available, so you always have something to refer to if needed.

No Online Assessment
Brisbane First Aid Courses Face-to-Face (NO online) course delivery option provides the most comprehensive First Aid training in Brisbane.
Unlike other First Aid training providers and delivery methods, all training and assessment for Brisbane First Aid Courses HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course are completed in a single day, in class and under the supervision and guidance of a qualified First Aid Trainer.
With more time spent in class, learners benefit from the added support that can only come from a face-to-face course, enabling them to ask their Trainer questions and have them clarify, repeat, contextualise and demonstrate in real-time all the knowledge and practical skills required to provide first aid assistance in almost any situation.

Upon completion of the course, you will be given an MHFA Mental Health First Aid Australia Certificate of completion to take away with you on the day.
Once you have completed the accredited MHFA training, Mental Health First Aid Australia will email you a link to invite you to complete an online accreditation assessment to become an accredited Mental Health First Aider. Your accreditation will last for 3 years, and then you will need to undertake an MHFA refresher course to maintain your accreditation.
The free online accreditation assessment consists of 15 questions with a mix of multiple-choice and true/false questions. The assessment usually takes between 15 – 30 minutes, and the MHFA manual can be referred to during the assessment if needed.
USI Requirements
As Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is accredited directly through Mental Health First Aid Australia, it does not fall into the same category as VET courses so participants will not require a USI for certification purposes.
